I did and I am happy I went through the struggles of completing this course. It was worth it.

I loved that I could do this course at home without showering or getting dressed for the day. Despite be frustrated at several Things along the way, I do believe several of these can be beneficial to me as an educator. I'm sure I will be collaborating with my colleagues regarding several of these Things. Staying fresh as an educator through my new discoveries will make my job a bit easier and less time consuming looking up relevant references.

I would like to attempt to keep a blog of my Health Fitness activities, so working on the blog was by far the best thing I did. I also liked working with iMovie and can see my students using this for Health Fitness projects, now that our libraries have wonderful Macs. I will also use Rollyo, google documents and Imcooked for starters.

The Common Craft videos were very entertaining and fun to learn with. I'm a very visual learner.

I was surprised I could do some of the stuff and wonder what else is "out" there that would be beneficial to me.

In one word my description of this class would be- Eye opening!Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11677334842698361411noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4952252327905912374.post-90827204577060254162010-08-05T08:20:00.000-07:002010-08-05T08:24:07.404-07:00Thing 22I went to Ning for Teachers. I found several blogs which had Health Fitness related posts. One post was discontinues and the other post was written by a substitute teacher subbing in a Physical Education class. This post had 10 tips when subbing in PE. I will add these 10 tips to my sub folder and possibly use it during my first week of school.

WOW!!! Only one more thing to go. I think I'll save it for another day when my house isn't full of workers.Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11677334842698361411noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4952252327905912374.post-27284913736982707662010-08-05T08:00:00.001-07:002010-08-05T08:10:11.352-07:00Thing 21I used Imovie because I am working at home on my mac. My bathroom is getting demolished so I didn't do a voice over. Fun healthy kids games video is what came up from that search that looked interesting. It talked about several interactive games for kids that included one about the food pyramid. The website is I will try to embed this into my blog.

I also searched Teachertube with the same search and wasn't impressed. It might be different given a different topic. I am really amazed by the things people can learn from youtube. I have a friend who is a beginning golfer and has watched a number of different youtube videos about different parts of the game. She has learned a lot.

">Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11677334842698361411noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4952252327905912374.post-77967367965270481832010-08-03T11:13:00.000-07:002010-08-03T11:15:05.229-07:00thing 19Imcooked.com was the first one I went to and LOVED it. It is a community for video recipe sharing. I watched easy guacomole and fafetaboutitpizza. I recommend watching the later one not for the recipe but for the person in the video. I’m sure if I could get through the 10 minute video without laughing, the recipe would rock.

I was hoping I could use this for nutritional information but I didn’t find that. However, the kids could film each other with their own recipes by using our libraries flip camera.

I have the urbanspoon app on my iphone and love it but don't find any relevance to use that in a classroom setting.

After I'm done with thing 20, I'm going to look up a flounder recipe for my dinner tonight.Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11677334842698361411noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4952252327905912374.post-81986532469009774042010-08-01T07:25:00.000-07:002010-08-01T07:28:34.145-07:00Thing 18I like google docs because I can make something at school and then upload it. Over the weekend I can go to google documents at home, edit and then either print it at home or at school. No flashdive or hauling my computer around...it is just out there.

It doesn't have all the bells and whistles the word processing programs have. I need to continue to learn how to use technology in ways that help me achieve that goal such as networking with other health fitness teachers.

Our State PE organization, TAHPERD, should have a wiki regarding their events or curriculum or just things "PE".Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11677334842698361411noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4952252327905912374.post-66384329982035920662010-07-27T07:25:00.000-07:002010-07-27T07:46:29.323-07:00Thing one fiveI enjoyed watching this video. Very insightful. These are my learners in the video and I have to find ways to incorporate their world into my environment. Just like Library 2.0, I have to be "user friendly" and "inviting".

Libraries have to keep up on a daily basis with the rapid deluge of information as it relates to their patrons and how best to relay the information to them.Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11677334842698361411noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4952252327905912374.post-9096337781767125592010-07-25T08:31:00.000-07:002010-07-25T08:36:32.376-07:00Thing 14Discovery activities:
1. Take a look at Technorati and try doing a keyword search for “School Library Learning 2.0” in Blog posts, in tags and in the Blog Directory. Are the results different?

My search on Technorati was the same; zero found for School Library Learning 2.0 under blog posts, tags and in the blog directory. Perhaps I didn’t do this one correctly.

2. Explore popular blog, searches and tags. Is anything interesting or surprising in your results?

There are lots of entertainment and gossip blogs.

3. Create a blog post for Thing #14 and express your thoughts regarding how Technorati and its features could assist you. Since you have now looked at several tools that use tagging (Technorati, de.licio.us, & Flickr), add your thoughts about the value of tagging information.

Technorati can assist me a great deal personally but I'm not sure how much it could assist me in my Health Fitness classroom. Within my Health Fitness association this would be beneficial to share ideas to keep kids moving, since the goal in Health Fitness is have moderate to vigorous activity at least 50-100% of each class. Tags such as cardio, kids health and stretching would be beneficial tags to share. Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11677334842698361411noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4952252327905912374.post-25614632599493600342010-07-21T07:01:00.001-07:002010-07-21T07:06:56.931-07:00THING 13At first I wasn't sure how to use this site in my classroom, but after watching a few tutorials I realized it can be quite beneficial to me. I liked delicious.com and diigo sites. I will use the delicious web site to better organize my Health Fitness websites. When I organize my bookmarks and tag them, I will see what others out there have tagged like mine. Hopefully, I can find useful sites to incorporate in my professional world. This type of site can help teachers find topics quickly as well as share. I did do a bit of Blog Reading and...enjoyed it.

I am looking forward to checking out some blogs and commenting on them using some of the 10 techniques such as don't criticize and interacting with other comments. I will continue to make comments on this post as time goes by.

I blog searched Houston animals and found two good blogs. The Houston Zoo blog is pretty cool.

I'll be back.Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11677334842698361411noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4952252327905912374.post-34930547580123349732010-07-18T06:42:00.000-07:002010-07-18T06:45:46.716-07:00Thing 11I am not a reader. There I said it. I like to read and do read but not for pleasure. During my down time I like to nap, garden or watch TV, that is when I have down time. I can see how the Library Thing can be a cool tool for those in the "reading" world.
I did find a group that shared my interest but I didn't check it out aggressively. As part of our CSHAC goals for 2010 - 2011, we are getting our school community involved with walking before school. Each grade level will supervise a month of Wednesdays and walking with our school community.

The other "thing" I did was create a Google Alert notifying me of any video regarding the Chicago Cubs. Lots of video to watch!

Again, lots of information to read more indepth. I know several of my friends that use the google docs so that is my next adventure.Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11677334842698361411noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4952252327905912374.post-45070708140743231182010-06-30T08:54:00.001-07:002010-07-05T12:31:48.120-07:00THING 6
This "thing" was very fun and informational. I have used trading cards in my classroom with the students making muscled trading cards. I would like to try and use trading cards to make a poster in the upcoming year. I could also use Mosiac Maker as well for many different things such as our annual Go Texan Day, stretches for a particular muscle or of all the trading cards. One problem I did come across was trying to put text into my image on my trading card.
